A common mistake SPM students make is studying Add Maths without a plan — jumping between topics randomly, spending too long on what they already know, and leaving difficult topics too late. A structured study plan covering the three months before SPM exams gives you enough time to cover every topic systematically and still have time for full past-paper practice.

Month 1: Cover All Topics Systematically

Weeks 1–2: Revise Form 4 topics — Functions, Quadratic Functions, Systems of Equations, Indices and Logarithms. Do 10–15 questions per topic from past papers. Weeks 3–4: Continue Form 4 — Coordinate Geometry, Statistics, Circular Measure. Identify weak areas. Do not move on until you can solve standard questions without notes.

Month 2: Form 5 Topics and Calculus

Week 5: Progressions and Linear Law. Week 6: Differentiation — all rules and all application types (tangent/normal, stationary points, rate of change). Week 7: Integration — indefinite, definite, area, volume. Week 8: Vectors and Trigonometric Functions. Calculus weeks are the most important. Budget extra study time here.

Month 3: Past Papers and Targeted Revision

Weeks 9–10: Permutations, Combinations, Probability, and Probability Distributions. These topics often feel abstract but are very systematically tested in SPM — master the formulas and apply them to past paper questions. Weeks 11–12: Full past-year paper practice. Do one complete Paper 1 + Paper 2 every 2–3 days under exam conditions. Mark your own paper. Identify recurring errors. Revise those specific sub-topics immediately after each mock.

Final 2 Weeks Before SPM

Stop learning new content. Focus only on past papers and reviewing your marked attempts. Practice presenting your working neatly and completely — examiners award method marks. Memorise all key formulas that are not provided in the exam (the SPM formula list covers most, but not all). Get adequate sleep the week before the exam.

Stick to the Plan — and Get Support

A study plan only works if you follow it. The biggest risk is falling behind in one week and never catching up. If you are struggling with specific topics, get targeted support early rather than trying to power through alone. Mr. Barathi Dass at Dass Maths has helped hundreds of students turn their Add Maths performance around — often in a matter of weeks — with focused, exam-driven teaching.
